Currency Questions

The Korean Won is one of the most flexible currencies in the world.

• From the Lehman Brothers crisis (September 12, 2008) to its peak (Mar 9, 2009), the Korean Won depreciated by 28.4 percent.
• From its peak (March 9, 2009) to the end of 2010, the Korean Won has appreciated by almost 40 percent. The Won appreciated much faster and greater than the other currencies.

In 2011, the Won continued to show a strong tendency to appreciate compared to the other competing currencies. The Won appreciated by 5.9 percent between January 1 and April 30 of this year.
